Fish is a healthy option with plenty of nutrients and it's not as expensive as you might think. There are many varieties to choose between with a wide range of flavours and textures - so there's something for everyone.
Monkfish is highly valued for its taste and meaty texture and as such, can handle strong flavours and is good to use in stir fries and barbecues. Its flavour can be compared to scampi or langoustine and it's simple to prepare (the membrane should be removed prior to cooking - any good fishmonger can do this for you).
Whiting has a similar flavour to cod and is often described as sweet or delicate. The flesh is firm and light but it can turn to mush if cooked too slowly. It's simple to prepare and great to use in fish pies, fishcakes and fish fingers.
